By accessing content from the DEEP-BioBank including but not limited to all data, documents, website content and material, the user accepts and agrees to follow the Terms of Use. For instance, before the supply of material from the DEEP-BioBank, the customer shall complete and sign an Order Form and a Material Transfer Agreement.

By ordering material from DEEP-BioBank, the customer agrees to not resell, borrow, transfer, or give our material to third parties. Any doubts or questions, please feel free to contact us by email (deep.biobank@ciimar.up.pt)
DEEP-BioBank acknowledgement
Biological material sent by the DEEP-BioBank should only be opened and used by trained persons, in suitable laboratory conditions. It is, however, unlikely that the material sent poses a serious hazard to laboratory workers, or the environment. The DEEP-BioBank is not responsible for any damage or injury that might happen after arrival.
Deposit
The DEEP-BioBank is open to deposition of biological samples (Porifera Cnidaria). The deposition of samples is free of charge. However, shipping and transport costs are borne by the depositor. Prior to the deposit process, depositors should review the status of the material with regards to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Nagoya Protocol or other related legal issues. All deposited samples are open to the public once their acceptance is approved.

The Nagoya Protocol and the Access and Benefit Sharing policy.
The Nagoya Protocol (implemented in the European Union by Regulation (EU) No. 511/2014) creates an international legal framework for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The CBD has as one of its main principles the principle of national sovereignty over the biological (genetic) resources found in national territory. Each country can choose to regulate the access to them and the conditions under which they can be utilized. This may require appropriate permits from the country of origin for the collection, export and use of resources. This explicitly applies not only to commercial use, but also to non-commercial (including scientific and educational) use.
At the DEEP-BioBank we are working for the compliance with the Nagoya Protocol on the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) policy. It is, however, the responsibility of the user of any biological sample provided by DEEP-BioBank to guarantee the compliance with the ABS legislation of the country of origin of said biological material.
